Creighton Avenue, N10

  • The rear extension to this family house increases the size of the living room.
  • Two timber terraces also increase the external living space on this steeply sloping site.
  • They give direct access from the living room and kitchen to the barbecue terrace and outdoor spar.
  • The stairs then descend to a garden/playroom, which is in effect a basement room on three sides and has been tanked and insulated.
  • New French doors from the first floor master bedroom allow access to a third balcony over- looking the garden.
  • The decking and balustrading uses American redwood, which has being left to weather naturally. The raised deck allows storage below with access from the garden.
  • A SUDS system has been used for the rainwater drainage– sustainable urban drainage, with a large soak-away positioned in the garden on a lower terrace.
  • A low energy lighting design has been installed including LED fittings and lighting levels calculated to enable table tennis to intermediate level to be played in the garden room.
